Location is close to main Rome train station (Termini) and tourist sites such as the Colosseum and the Roman Forum - but some distance from St Peters and the Vatican. Staff very friendly and helpful - e.g. kitchen staff made up some panini (bread rolls with ham and cheese) for us one morning when we had to go out extremely early before the breakfast room was due to open. Our room was one of two that each have a private terrace - very relaxing, and also convenient for drying washing.
Major shopping streets are not close to the hotel. Breakfast is OK if you are expecting a simple continental breakfast as we were, but those expecting a USA/UK breakfast may be disappointed.
The hotel is well situated for travellers wishing to visit the main tourist attractions in Rome. 10 minutes walk from Roma Termini (even with bags / luggage). Lovely rooftop terrace with view of Colosseum, Forum & St Peters. Also own private terrace / balcony.
Main entrance by a rather shabby back street. Somewhat dated (but clean) decor and soft furnishings in room.
Good location. Short walk to a Metro Station and the main train terminal. Rooms and bathroom compact but clean. Has a lift.
The staff could have been more helpful and shared information more freely. No info given upon check in re breakfast times / place or any of the services provided. When asking for info clear answers were sometimes hard to come by!
Good location to train station/metro/hop on hop off bus services. Many restaurants within easy walking distance. Great view from balcony.
Breakfast very ordinary!
The price does not correspond to the hotel room. No fridge.
A nice little hotel, with excellent service and cleaning. Close by most of the nice places to see. good food in the vicinity. discovered a little bit too late a nice restaurant just some few meters up the street at the same side as hotel.
staff were very helpful and any problems e.g anything not working in the room were attended to immediately. rooms were cleaned everyday with clean linen and towels provided - excellent.
Great hotel. Rooms were very nice. Good a/C. Nice big bathroom. Decent breakfast. You could get wifi in your room but you had to pay for it. Location;Everything in Rome is very spread out, with that said the location was pretty good. Nice quiet street, with shops and restaurant close by.
The bathroom/shower was very large for a European hotel and the beds were very comfortable. The patio on the roof was beautiful but we had no time to enjoy it while there. The window has optional shutters that make the room extemely dark for great sleeping and access to cnn and bbc for English news from home when you want it. The hotel was very clean and the a/c was great. Near the Colosseum and the Termini bus/train station. Tiny elevator and very slow but again this is Europe so no bog deal. I would recommend highly.
The staff was hit and miss as far as being helpful, The morning front desk man spent quite a lot of time trying to help must get to a very remote village.
Our room was brilliant: it was on floor 7 with a full length terrace, where we could sit with a few drinks at the end of the day enjoying lovely views of the city; the bed was firm, but comfy; full-length shutters on the window & door onto terrace and remote-control air-con meant that the temperature was ideal day or night; the bathroom was spacious with a super shower. The hotel was spotless, staff were helpful and, although nothing out of the ordinary, breakfast was plentiful with a variety of drinks and croissants alongside bread rolls, meat, cheese, jams, cereal and yoghurt. The location was good: 20 min walk from Colosseum; 10-15 min from Termini; 5 min from open bus pick-up point; 5 min from Metro. There are plenty of places to eat & drink within easy walking distance, as well as a couple of mini-markets where you can buy snacks and cold drinks.
Not a major issue, but the hotel is tucked away in a back street, so get a good idea of where you are heading if you are going to find your own way there. We landed at Fiumicino airport and picked up a 'shuttle' minibus from a kiosk; this took us directly to the hotel for €15 per person - a bargain compared to €14 each for the train to Termini, followed by a taxi or confused walk to the hotel. Once we arrived at the hotel we had no trouble finding our way around thanks to map provided by reception.
This hotel don't have own parking. The underground parking is near hotel but it too expencive.
Location, roof top garden and friendly staff
We had booked 2 rooms and upon arriving were told that they had plumbing problems and they had reserved a room for our first night at another hotel and send us there by taxi. We left to site see early the next morning and had left our luggage at the second hotel and upon returning Hotel Colosseum had already picked up our luggage and it was in our room. Very helpful staff, but the hotel is a little out of the way of main attractions, we used the hop on bus to get to most sites.
Staff were very accommodating, the terrace is lovely and hardly used and the rooms whilst small were very nice and comfortable. Shower was lovely.
Rooms aren't the biggest but none are in Rome.
It was our first time to visit Rome and we found it on line besause of it's name. Knowing that it had to be close to the sights and that was confirmed to the max when we arrived. It turned out to be so much more than we hoped for.Our first reaction being "this is beautiful" and the friendlyness of all both management and staff made our stay a wonderful experience. We would and will recommend to anyone going to Rome to stay at Hotel Colosseum.
Honestly, nothing to not like.
